[1] Chart Toppers

Chart Toppers shows scans for the day's biggest gainers, losers, and most active stocks. You’ll also see stocks climbing to new 52-week highs and crashing to new lows.

View graphs for each scan to quickly assess whether a stock is rising with strength and momentum, or if the day's change is just a bounceback from being oversold the previous day.

Basic members can view 30 results for each scan, while Premium members can view a more complete listing:

ProphetScan is a real-time market scanning system designed to help you hone in on promising trading opportunities that match your personal trading criteria - from a world of over 14,000 stocks available to trade.

ProphetScan gives you immediate access to scans based on the most recent market data available and provides an easy-to-use wizard to make building your scan criteria fast and easy.

* Major Groups - Define a broad basket of stocks based on exchanges, sectors and industry groups, and/or stocks that have options available

* Fundamental Criteria - including Standard-and-Poor’s STAR ratings

* Intraday Activity - The wizard provides frameworks for several popular and powerful scans for intraday movement. Look for Unusual Volume, Gaps Up (and Gaps Down), and stocks trading at their Daily, Annual, and Lifetime Extremes

The ProphetScan wizard takes you through the six major criteria groups. In the first pane, you’ll choose the exchanges or sectors you wish to include in your scan. Once you’ve made your selection, click Next and continue until you’ve completed all six panes (you can leave any of them blank). Each time you add criteria from each group, you'll see the number of results update at the lower-left and upper-right of the wizard.

When you're done, you can:

* Save your scans for future use

* Review the results with or without quotes and minicharts

* Export all (or some) of the results to your watch lists

* Visually scan Minicharts - and access your favorite Minichart settings

* Export your scan results to Watch Lists

Use the Industry Rankings page in conjunction with Chart Surfer for a top-down exploration of stocks by sector, subsector, and industry groups.

First, find strong sectors. Using the respected Media General (MGFS) taxonomy of industry groups, Prophet charts daily market data for over 200 industries, sectors, and sub-sectors. With Industry Rankings, you can rank and sort industry groups and their components using your choice of timeframes. For example, position traders or swing traders might choose a 1-week timeframe, while longer term investors might look back 6 months or more.

Then identify the leaders of the pack. Once you've explored the industries and sectors, use Chart Surfer to drill down and compare individual stocks. With Chart Surfer, you'll be able to view graphs of all the stocks in each sector and scan for the most profitable patterns.

Depending on the trading strategies you prefer, not only can you look for the leaders but also the biggest losers (e.g., if you’re looking for stocks due for a turnaround), as well as stocks whose ranks have improved (or worsened) the most dramatically in that timeframe. One-click sorting gives you new views that help you understand what's going on in the market.

Using ProphetScan create and modify a custom scan to give you a list of no more than, say, 100 results. (Basic members can set up any scan, though only the top 10 symbols based on sort order will be shown.)

[2] Review Scan Results and Export

Review your scan results and export them to a Watch Lists.

[3] Analyze Charts Quickly and Efficiently

Navigate to JavaCharts, where you've saved your favorite study sets and chart styles; apply your desired settings to a chart. Click on the Watch List you just created from ProphetScan, and then use the FlipCharts arrows to quickly flip through the charts.

[4] Fine Tune Your List and Tag Your Top Candidates

From within JavaCharts, fine tune your Watch List as you do your analysis. Tag stocks that look most promising; right-click on the symbol in the left panel and choose Tag Symbol. Delete from the Watch List any stocks that fail further scrutiny.

[5] Watch Your Picks in Real-Time

Now navigate to MarketMatrix. Choose your Watch List from the View menu, and you'll be able to watch the stocks from your scan update in real-time. For dynamic sorting, click the %Chg column to keep the biggest gainers at the top of the list.
